Welcome to the “The Truth About Grace” blog, where we’ll simplify grace and attempt to break all stereotypes surrounding it. I am soooo excited you are here, and I can’t believe I’m really doing this. First things first, we are not a church, this is an online community, and community is simple, it's a group of people sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
This community is founded and centered on Jesus’ life, what He did on the Cross, and what His Resurrection means for Humanity. You see Christ didn’t die for a physical building, nor a single day of the week. He came, died, and resurrected so that you and I can live. And the truth is that, the work on the cross and what He did to the grave, ALWAYS meets us wherever we are, and whenever we want to meet, and that’s what we call grace.
We have put so many stipulations and rules around what it means to be a follower of Christ, and what we can do to get it right (i.e perfect), but we will always come up short. The truth is, Christ traded our sin and shame for His righteous, and that my friend is grace. So we don’t have any righteous to give, lend, or work up. Do we get it wrong here, ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY. But who doesn’t, and if you say you don’t.. STOPPPPP, cause you just did boo.
As much as it pains me to say this because I think we abuse phrases like "ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME”, which is true. We are on a journey, and Heaven is the destination, and we don’t arrive until we get there. So I am no further along on this journey than the next ALIVE person.
So why here, why this community. Because here it's not about followers or number, it’s about Jesus. It’s not about what’s trendy or what’s cool, it’s about Jesus. This is not about a religion, a Sunday, or what you do the other 52 Sundays. It’s not about who's right or wrong, who’s first or last, rich or poor, it’s about Jesus. This is not about what you can and cannot do, it’s about Jesus. This is not about my truth or your truth, it’s about Jesus. It’s not about us or them, it’s about Jesus. This community is about grace and truth in love and that is Jesus...
So here’s the only truth that we can hold on to; Jesus loved, loves, and will continuously love us..no matter what we’ve done or will do, and that’s grace. And when we believe the lies about grace, we miss out on the truth about grace.
Romans 5:20-21 (MSG)
All that passing laws against sin did was produce more lawbreakers. But sin didn’t, and doesn’t, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it’s sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that’s the end of it. Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into life—a life that goes on and on and on, world without end.
